It would be unwise to buy a DAC, seeking more clarity. In terms of the DAC part, it actually is in the upper echelon, something like the 75-85th percentile compared to most DACs (from what I read from audio science review, please enlighten if otherwise). However, the G6 provides good clarity, low distortion as a DAC, and decent juice as an amp. Personally, I want to get an something like a tube amp down the line, something with a different sound signature to get a different effect from my 6XXs. It sends a clear, low distortion sound to the headphone, and puts most of the burden in terms of sound signature on the headphones. This is nice cause you can hear things the way they were meant to be heard. The thing that is nice about the G6 is its frequency response is completely flat, meaning the sound you get is unaltered. When you pair things like tube amps with the 6XX, I believe the sound can be more fun and bassy, as the tube amp has that effect on sound when it processes it, before sending to your headphones. After looking at reviews, comments, and stuff like audio science review measurements it seems like every headphone amp or DAC reproduces sound with its own signature, similar to a headphone. I've only been in the game since November, in terms of "audiophile" stuff, so I'm not speaking from experience. The G6, for the price, is going provide a great entry point as an amp/DAC.
